Minshuku is a type of Japanese style bed and breakfasts inn. When you stay in a minshuku,you are able to mix and interact with the family that operate it. You would be able to learn about the culture and custom of the Japanese people by spending your time in the minshuku. Rates for minshuku is between 5,000 and 9,000 yen per night per person. Like anywhere else there are cheaper alternatives eg. some minshuka without frills ask for less than 4,000 yen per night. Typically, in a minshuka,the guest lives like a local i.e. sleeps on a tatami,uses a futon,takes ofuro,eats asagohan and bangohan etc.
